Redsox 40th Anniversary Celebration

As we approach our 40th year, your committee has resolved to celebrate same with a slap-up function, somewhat more elaborate than the normal end-of-season windup.
Needless to say this will cost $$$’s and to this end the club has two choices:

1.Embark on an aggressive fund-raising campaign, the burden of which is equally shared by all, raising enough so that nobody has to put hand in pocket as the event approaches, or 

2.Ask each member for a contribution, over and above that portion of their fees that covers the windup.

Pros and Cons:

• Re no.1, It could be quite difficult to ensure the effort is fairly shared around.
• Re no.2, what level of contribution do we ask for? If we ask for too little, we may end up with an event inferior to that befitting a 40th celebration. If we ask too much, we may scare people off the event. We must aim for maximum member participation.
•  Maybe a combination of both where individuals or groups fund raise for themselves,

The committee therefore needs feedback from the members as to their preference.
